What to do if YouTube flags up your video for copyright infringement

Most people know that if you use music on your video without permission you will fall foul of the stringent copyright laws protecting composer's rights worldwide. Youtube, Instagram and Facebook have very clever ways of detecting when you are using copyrighted music on your video due to Content ID and will notify you that you are infringing copyright.
So to make life easier for the video maker, Royalty Free Music companies such as AKM music gain permission from the composers to allow you to place their library music onto your video and avoid any copyright claims when aired. We will pay a royalty directly to the composer for this permission and so avoiding any copyright issue.
HOWEVER on rare occasions YouTube may flag up a track from a royalty free music library and this causes a real panic for the video creator who rightly thought they had paid for full usage of the music track and not to have to deal with this thorny copyright headache. And rest assured when using one of our music tracks you are 100% cleared to use the music on any platform. You are NOT infringing copyright and you can fully monetize your YouTube video. But it does occasionally happen where one of our tracks is invloved in a dispute.
Let me explain. About 85% of the music found in our royalty free music library is exclusive to us i.e no one else has this music and it cannot be found in other royalty free music sites. You will never receive a claim on any of this exclusive music. However some of the tracks in our library are by composers who have shared the same music to other libraries and some of these composers, to make extra income, have signed agreements with collecting agencies to receive royalties when the music is used on a YouTube video. A bit naughty I hear you say, and it really annoys us and some of our customers, but it's really difficult to control.
Thankfully there is a quick and painless solution to this. Music flagged up by YouTube is usually claimed for the composer by a third party. The third party is the collection agency. There are 2 main collecting agencies claiming : ADREV and HAAWKE music. We are now in direct contact with their copyright clearance departments and if a claim effects one of our customers we email them the video URL and within a few hours all claims are dropped and full monetization reverts back to the video creator.
So if you do receive a YouTube copyright dispute on your video using our music. Email us and we will get the claim dropped on the same day. Simply email us at akm@akmmusic.co.uk with your video URL and details of the YouTube dispute and we'll do the rest.
Remember you haven't broken any laws so don't panic just get in touch. We can settle it and save you the hassle and time disputing it with YouTube.
